Tempered Glass: A combination of safety and strength

In the glass industry, tempered glass is known for its strength and safety performance. As a prestressed glass, tempered glass forms a compressive stress layer on the glass surface through a special heat treatment process, which greatly improves its bearing capacity and enhances its wind pressure resistance, weather resistance and impact resistance.

The reason why tempered glass is called safety glass is mainly due to its unique physical properties. When tempered glass is damaged by external forces, it will not form sharp fragments like ordinary glass, but will break into many small, blunt-angled particles, greatly reducing the risk of harm to the human body. The strength of tempered glass is much higher than that of ordinary glass. The impact strength of tempered glass of the same thickness is 3 to 5 times that of ordinary glass, which makes it widely used in various occasions requiring high safety.

Tempered glass also has good thermal stability and can withstand a temperature difference that is 3 times that of ordinary glass, and can withstand a temperature difference of up to 300°C. This feature allows tempered glass to remain stable under extreme climatic conditions and is not easily broken due to temperature changes.

The production process of tempered glass mainly includes cutting, edging, cleaning, tempering and inspection. Among them, tempering is the key link, which is usually achieved by physical tempering or chemical tempering. Physical tempering is to heat the glass to a point close to the softening point and then cool it rapidly to form compressive stress on the glass surface; while chemical tempering is to form a compressive stress layer on the glass surface through chemical reactions such as ion exchange.

During the tempering process, the glass will undergo a certain deformation, and the degree of deformation depends on the equipment and process level. Therefore, various parameters need to be strictly controlled during the production process to ensure product quality.

Tempered glass is widely used in many fields such as construction, automobiles, and electronics due to its performance. In the construction industry, tempered glass is often used in doors, windows, curtain walls, partitions and other locations, which not only improves the safety of the building, but also gives the building a modern and fashionable aesthetic. Especially in high-rise buildings and public buildings, the application of tempered glass is indispensable.

In the automotive industry, tempered glass is used in car windows, windshields and other parts, which effectively improves the passive safety of the vehicle. With the increasing requirements for lightweight and safety performance, the application of tempered glass in automobile manufacturing is increasing.

Tempered glass also plays an important role in the electronics field. For example, the display screen protection glass of electronic products such as smartphones and tablets is mostly made of tempered glass to protect the screen from scratches and impacts.

In recent years, with the rapid development of domestic construction, automobile, electronics and other industries, the demand for tempered glass has continued to increase, which has promoted the expansion of production capacity and technological progress in the tempered glass industry. However, market competition is also becoming increasingly fierce, and companies need to improve their competitiveness through technological innovation, brand building, cost control and other means.

Environmental protection and sustainable development have become important trends in the tempered glass industry. Companies need to focus on energy conservation and emission reduction, resource recycling and other aspects to promote the green development of the industry. With the deepening development of globalization, China's tempered glass industry also needs to strengthen cooperation and exchanges with the international market to enhance its international competitiveness.
